Hi! I’m Melissa!
I live in beautiful Colorado with my favorite person in the whole world: my dog, Klondike. I’m an avid traveler, a wine enthusiast and an adventure junkie. I like all things outdoors and am a semi-health nut, except for when it comes to key lime pie — then it’s just game over.
I have a BA in Journalism and a BA in Spanish from Colorado State University, and
work as a waitress (yay unforgiving job market) am venturing out as an independent, freelance writer. I also currently write for a health and fitness blog The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans.
Born and raised in Fort Collins, CO, exploring the world has been a necessity. I have visited 13 countries, and complete 2 studies abroad where I lived in 3 countries. “Having the travel bug” is a gentle way of putting my diagnosis of having the urge to spontenously hop on a plane to the first city I see on a world map.
My favorite color is red -maybe because I’m a Ginger-; I can’t whistle; Reading is my outlet; I box and do cross fit, but my inevitable six pack is thwarted by my interest in craft beers and specialty wines and learning all the nerdy stuff behind them. And cheese. I love cheese; My favorite season is baseball season –Go Rockies!–; I like a good challenge and laughing at myself.
